I need new shoes. What shoes are you ladies wearing or what do you recommend. I'm changing to speedplays so will have to be road and 3 bold compatible (I think).

Specialized SPDs, can't beat them.

I am not a lady but am posting as I have used speedplays for years. They are 4 bolt. The shoes available with a 4 bolt sole is very limited and is usually limited to the top of the range shoes as well..
DMT, Gaerne, Lake, Northwave*
Rocket 7, Sidi

However you can use 3 bolt with the speedplay supplied adaptors for most shoes. I have one set of cleats on a set of 4 bolt sole Sidi vernice carbons and one set of cleats on some old 3 bolt specialised shoes. I actually prefer the cheap specialized shoes, I dont have Sidi feet ( too wide). Speedplay warn you on the packaging that light or people with weak legs should not use the speedplay zero's as they can be stiff to clip into. They do light action ones though which are easier apparently.
If you use a 3 bolt shoe the stack height is slightly higher due to the adaptor plate. If you buy speedplays ensure you buy the cafe covers as well, as if you walk without them you will go through the metal cleat outer plate very quickly. I have assumed you are buyng Zero's or light actions not the MTB speedplay Frogs.

Ive got big feet!
I've recently acquired some shimano ladies mtb shoes for SPD and some dhb SPD SL carbon soled shoes. After trying perhaps 20 pairs of shoes, these are the ones I think that fit. Yet to attach cleats and use either though, still using my elderly specialized sonomas!

These are the DHBs, feel really quite good for a little over £60. They start at a 39, there maybe a wsd version

I had a look at the compatible list and must admit grudge paying so much for shoes but, If I have to I will. I will be going with the light action ones to begin with till I get used to them as I have been quite happy with my SPD's and mountain bike shoes. Especially for walking about in. The pedals will be going on my new bike which I have a bike fit booked in for when it arrives and the chap can do the proper adjustments.

I got 5% off as a gold member (status probably acquired by buying lots of shoes which have since gone back)!

You don't *have* to wear anything  Well you should probably wear something as it's chilly up there in Scotland, but you know what I mean!

Never heard of them. I'd always buy shoes from Evans/Wiggle/CRC just for the free returns  (but then I have the most f'ing awkward feet ever to grace the ankles of a human being)!!

I second Vickster. Wear what ever you feel comfortable in and buy from one of the larger companies for the free returns and the best deals.

I do wear lycra on my road bike and when im touring purely because its more comfortable but on the others i wear whatever. Dont fall into the trap of "having" to get certain kit Because you dont have to.

You have a bike thats all you need.

Enjoy the ride, however long it is or wherever it takes you.
