New thru city centre cycle commute

You should be careful what you wish for I suppose. I wanted to build more miles into my commute but now instead of covering 3.5 miles each way at 07:00hrs and 21:00hrs x 3 per week along quiet(ish) roads, I now have a longer route of 6 miles each way at 07:00hrs and 16:00hrs x 5 per week thru Manchester city centre. Anyone else go north up the A56 or A665 to Prestwich/Whitefield at 16:00hrs? How bad is it?

City centres are fine if you find side streets. I do both Leeds and Bradford daily. just gotta be alert and assertive

I used to like Oxford Road - lots of buses to draft and bus lanes to ride in. That was 1995 mind you. I expect it's different now

PM me your route. I'll sort it for you. Get off Oxford Road..!
Cheers muchly. This is what Googlemaps is suggesting. I know my way into the city centre but hate the stop start/tram lines/broken roads once past the Arena. Happy to use the main roads into and out of Manchester for the rest. Any suggestions welcome.
