New Tires

Hi all, just bought a Giant Defy 2, but am going to be looking at replacing the standard Giant tires for ones with some puncture (kevlar) protection, I've previously had Schwalbe Blizzard on old bikes, which I think have been renamed Lugano, so been looking mainly at those.

Are there any other makes/models that I should consider? Looking for 700x25 or even 700x28 because of the roads I'll be cycling on

For road riding, the tyres on your bike will be fine as long as you look after them.

Every one has their own favourite tyres. You will now get a list of what people prefer.
So my recommendation would be Rubino's.

I have done several thousand miles on the stock Giant tyres (2012 Avail 2, same bike), one fairy visit, I'd say they are pretty good, although probably not the lightest, but then no protected tyre will be

I'd save my money for now

Schwalbe GP4000s on the best bike wheels, Conti Ultra-Race on the spare wheels.

Schwalbe Lugano's on the commuter bike. Mine have done 2000 miles on it with few problems, right through last winter.

Oh, and anything that happens to be lying around on the cheap junker. Currently it's an old Ultra Race plus Rubino Pro Slick on the rear.

I'm currently running Michelin Kylion Carbon/ Pro 4 Endurance (Mitch's successor to the dicontinued Krylions) on my winter wheels, their wear rate makes them very economical IMO on the summer wheels I'm running GP4000s but overall I think the Mitch are better.
