New to Commuting: left my crystal ball at home!

I've started to journey alternate days from Paisley to Glasgow city centre on my new two wheels, on the way home tonight at Cardonald shops I came across my first impatient a/hole.....rather than draw in behind me and wait, he pulled in right in front of me (and directly outside the chinese carry out's front door), I had to brake right fast and he saved his fat a*se all of 3 seconds, I shall be sure to make sure my mum knows that's my worth in life, and he never even got out the car (possibly cos I'd made my feelings known by that stage!)

Dopey, I commute regularly on that route from Paisley to the centre of Glasgow. Paisley Road is pretty good for the commute, with two lanes in both directions most of the way with lots of parked cars. Because of this traffic tends to stick to lane 2, so you're not causing anybody a problem by sticking to the middle of lane 1 in the few short runs where there are no parked cars in lane 1, such as at the Cardonald shops. This might help prevent the kind of thoughtless manoeuvre that almost caught you out here.

I won't tell my maw of any confrontations I have, she worry enough as it is; you cant really get over to her that the health benefits of cycling alone outweigh the risks by 20 to 1 and there are many other benefits too.

I stick mostly to the west and the center, Maryhill road being my main through route. Always interesting, you can say that at least!

I agree, Paisley Road is not bad to commute on at all.
