Hello, been commuting since March 09 but only just discovered cycle chat.

I have been commuting via bike for just over a year now, a distance of about 9 miles each way (I think - may well be a touch further as I go around the houses a bit and have no computer - could of course also be less!). Currently ride a fairly rubbish hybrid number but debating the merits of a new bike.... mmmm....

Just so long as you realise, once you start, you'll always be debating the merits of another new bike ... ... number of bikes to own is always n + 1 ...

Dont do it Rosie! your old bike would never forgive you and she's done you proud for a year (at least!).

Plus, it starts to cost a packet onece you give in to N+1

My bike (we are old friends now) has been with me for 10+ years...its the legs that make a difference, not the bike.

That's reassuring to know because I'm seriously considering splashing out on a road bike now, although I have also been trying to talk myself out of it too! Typical female brain - constantly contradicting itself!
