Hi just looking at signing up for charity 26 miles in the cotswolds end of August, havent cycled for years and unfit do you think 3 months is time enough to achieve this. Although unfit and a stone or teo overweight I did climb Ben Nevis in October last year, fitness just gone to pot since, any advice welcome please.

Put the effort into your training mate you'll p*ss it... start with as much as you can cycle comfortably increase 10% a week (distance forget speed it will come naturally I believe). Done deal......3 months is bags of time even if you can only get out 3x a week

Good Luck

Hi jjr,

I "supported" my wife on a charity ride last year around Wiltshire. A relatively hilly route for her, and it came in at 28 miles. She did no training.

She did it fine, the key is doing it at your pace and stopping whenever you feel you should (mainly at the spots they sell tea and cake

)

If you do some cycling now you really will find it a breeze. Three months will be more than enough to do that distance. Keep cycling for fun, increasing the distance like kilf says and you'll also likely to discover that extra stone you're carrying has disappeared too!

Keep us posted how you're doing along the way.

No probs, If I can do London to B, at my age LOL, with just 4 weeks training on road and a couple of spin classes you will have no probs with 26 miles... good luck :-)
