Please can someone recommend an active club to join in Southend. I am a Elite B and Open c rider in Australia -QLD- so not sure what category that puts me in in the UK. I will be moving to Essex in June and plan to compete as a team member, but need to find a team/club as I do not know anyone in this area. Thanking you in advance. Lloyd

There is a club in Southend itself, I don't live up that way anymore but they were quite a good standard -

Cheers guys. I have emailed the Secretary of the Wheelers so see how it goes. They sound like a good organized bunch.

Usually have 30-60 on group rides here in Brisbane. Wonder if there will be the same numbers back home.

I'm not sure you've heard too much about the great British weather, lloyd! :rain: :surrender:

But it's not about the weather!

Enjoy yourself! ;)

Funny enough! Apart from us winning the cricket the main news is flooding here right now! Have a race tomorrow and it looks like they'll call it off again! :-( That's nothing compared to the minus degrees you guys are having! Hope Jeff does us proud in Tron as well!

Where abouts in Southend are you moving to Lloyd ?

Don't expect many hills, its as flat as a witches tit round these parts, except for the Downs where the Olympic MTB course is being developed and thats having to go up and down quite a bit to get the nessecary climbs in.

This is a link to the local Road Race league http://www.errl.org.uk/index.php

In addition to the clubs above

Shaftesbury http://questronics.org.uk/Shaftesbury/ are based near Billericay about 20 Miles from Southend

I am pretty sure i'll be near family in Leigh or Westcliffe. Bugger. Did not consider the hill factor. Suppose that's why I am seeing a lot of TT stuff on the club sites? TT is not major here, but I am required to to it in a few mini tours in your Spring.

I hope to be able to continue to do 400k+ or around 12-15 hours per week as I am doing now. Figured I would need to do some of that indoors as the weather is baltic for 200 days a year. :-)

Wow! Just looked at the calendar and it is jammed to the max. We have club crits here everyweek, but the main Open races only run for a restricted time and not in these numbers. Excellent.

Thanks for the info buddy. Awesome stuff. Really appreciated.

Well Leigh is right near the downs for good off road hills and there is one or two road hills nearby , but neither are steep enough to warrant road signs and they aint that long.

The Highest point in the entire count is 482 feet (147M) and thats at the other side of the County !!

482feet!!!! I live at the bottom of Mt Cootha in Brisbane. Won't be happy if I can't do some hills.

I can't find YACF buddy?
