Hi everyone.

Names Ricki and I'm a newbie to the cycling world. I have been online to look for a bike and I really want a retro looking single speed. However being a tight arse, and because I have a baby on the way, i dont want to spend alot. I really like the look of the charge plug but I cant afford that new. Is anybody selling a charge plug? Or can anybody recommend a ss under say 350? Thanks a bunch!

Hi & Welcome.

Odd as it may sound, that Cash Converters shop sells bikes. I have seen a couple of very nice fixies in the window of our local branch lately. If our backwater has them, surely other branches must get them too. Also Gumtree is a good place to find bikes but I would check for receipts etc from the vendor as I have no doubt that not all second hand bikes for sale are legally obtained.

Try eBay too, checking the provenance of the bike

Also google around as you can often find a previous years model at a discounted price

Thanks vickster. Had a look on google because a friend told me to do just that. But really hard to find any previous models. Really want a ss with a retro look. They are soo nice!!

Goody thanks for the tip. The langster looks gorgeous. However as I am 6ft7 I fear the 49cm frame on that ebay item might be too small. Does look good in that red colour though.

Seeing you live in Twickenham, let me point out the wonderful maintenance nights run by LCC http://www.richmondlcc.co.uk/category/events/ - very helpful if you decide to buy something second hand.

I'll probably go next week in Mortlake to replace my chain and cassette.
