I dont really roll with the whole airzound thing.

I thought about it for a while and was tempted but just kept this nagging feeling that it was a way of venting my spleen as apposed to actually stopping issues.

I think someone on here summed it up well once before (possibly Mags or Bent Mikey) when they sad, "if you have time to press a button, you have time to react", so I just got to thinking that it was a straight choice......which do I want to do first...react or find a button to press.

After all, my voice tavells pretty far (when needed) and it requires no lack of bike control and provides no distraction.... to SHOUT!

In a perverse way i am itching to try it on the road but today i have to take the gravel off the flat roof and reseal the felt underneath ( dinner break atm ).

The worst bit is climbing up the ladder to get what is it 20 odd feet up to get on top off the second floor, its not scarey just being cautious.

I was scared for my life when I had to put up the hook's for the xmas lights at Chez Jeez...nothing wrong with being scared of going up a ladder.

And I used to do a lot of and rock mountain climbing!!!

I know if I have no time to press a button then it's a close one.

It's all about composure as well. The other day when that car swerved into me and after I had swerved I used the horn button instead of swearing of which I would have done normally. Also if you see a situation developing it can stop the situation devolping. The other day I made a ped jump out of her skin though even though she was on the other side of the road.;)

^^^
But I saw a situation developing there.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I meant to ask where a bouts on the drops is it best to put it? , i had toyed with very close to the hoods but i guess the standard position near lights will be best?

And yes OFC you take evasive 1st if its that close, and round here i can count on 1 hand the number of commuters i know who use a bike with intent and do not use the pavement .Maybe a camera would have been better to capture the event as i think drivers round here are just as bad as anywhere.

I was forced into the kerb yesterday by a lorry doing a close overtake on a flyover , at least i could have vented my spleen after the event .

That's a good point. No matter how well I put it, a shout of "mind out" always sounds a bit like an insult to a ped, whereas a horn is possibly less "personal".

that said, Mr WVM will react to a horn as if it is a challenge to his very masculinity and try to run you off the road if you dare to sound it...check out Mikey's Buggin hill Scooby driver!

Not me - I think that's just one of those bullsh1t platitudes that don't have much founding in reality. With the right setup, it's easy to react and beep at the same time, braking with both brakes for example.

That said, I don't currently have an airzound on either bike. The upright has drop handlebars, and I never had an airzound on those successfully, and I've stripped down the bent a little to give her a cleaner look.

Oh, the other bits I forgot to add in response to this is that the AirZound gets way more attention from a driver than does even the loudest shout. They are trained to react to the horn. Not only that, but getting the driver to react quickly can buy you invaluable extra time to avoid a collision.

Only a cabbie specially stopped...wait till I fit the 2nd horn.

Actually the point which is a strange one for me the other day when I was being intimidated by the car...at no time did I swear or stick the finger up although I did blow the horn.I wasn't even shaken which surprised me but then again the danger had passed when it was obvious they were trying to scare and intimidate me.In the old days I would have probably remarked about their mothers.

Then there would be afters.:B)
