New wheels for the "robust" rider

So I've done maybe 120 miles on my new bike, and already my wheels are significantly out of true. For the second time. The wheels are EA30 Aero Customs. One of the issues could be that the shop didn't properly true them when I had them fixed the first time. And the roads around here are fairly bumpy, so that doesn't help.

Anyway, what sort of wheels should I look at, weighing over 100kg. I can see the Mavic Aksiums for £150 on Decathlon, which are apparently decent wheels, My budget wouldn't stretch far above that, maybe £200-230. Any ideas?

Your top end budget should get you a pair of handbuilts.

Probably with Mavic Open Pro rims, 105 hubs and sapim spokes, (or similar).

For off the shelf bombproof wheels look at Halo Aerorage, I run those and they are brilliant.

As per @smokeysmoo's suggestion, you could go for handbuilts.

I can recommend Mavic CXP 33 rims as being bombproof; I had them on an old bike for years before I sold the bike, and never encountered any problems - I was 100kg and a bit at the time I had them.

Hand built again but get them laced 4 cross pattern.

Go for a high spoke count. The more spokes, the stronger the wheel. On the rear wheel, which takes more weight, I would recommend "Alpine 3" triple-butted spokes. My Mavic wheels with those spokes have done me proud for about 4,000 miles despite me being a 20 stoner.

I got "Big Al" at Wheelcraft at Milton of Campsie to build mine - no idea if he sends wheels by post tho. He's a good guy, and worth giving a call, good prices as well:

^Herein lies the answer. 36 spoke three cross will feature somewhere.

He's just made me a set & they are beauties I ended up going for 36 spokes as I'm a 'robust' rider & hope these wheels will last me many a year. I have a set on my tourer that I got from Rose in Germany. They offer a 10 year spoke guarantee so must be confident in their wheel builders ability, but the wheels dont look as good as the ones made by @RRSODL & I do like a bit of bling

What rims did you go with? I'm thinking Mavic Open Pros, but I might look for some nice black and red ones to match my frame. I'm thinking 36 at the back at least. I counted the spokes on my current back wheel and noticed I only had 24 spokes, so that's probably a cause of my woes.

H plus Archetype rims in black. I fancied a splash of blue on mine, so went for blue nipples, but if you want coloured nipples, make sure you buy good quality ones

Ah, that would make your wheels the ones that made me want the Archetypes. They are really stunning wheels, I just want some red nipples to compliment my frame though.
