Nice looking wheels, are they hand built?
The last time I glued some tubs on was 1979!

They are. I need some better pictures, these don't really do them justice.

They are Gigantex 50mm tubular rims, on Novatech hubs with CX Ray spokes. All in at 1300g.

1979 huh, I was 11 then

They sound the business, would like to see some better photos when you can.
By the way, I was 16 in 1979.
Did you get the wheels from Wheelsmith by any chance?

No I got a local wheelbuilder to put them together for me. Worked out a bit cheaper and he's just down the road in case of issues.

Sure hope you're not still riding those tubs from 1979.

In 1979 I was 23 and I'm still riding some wheels I had built in 1982. I've replaced a couple of spokes and rebuilt and re-greased the bearings many times and they still free-wheel a lot better than some newer wheels (all be it on cheapish bikes).

Sweet. I bet you've changed the tyres since then though

They look very nice, wouldn't mind a pair myself. Good photos, ta!
I sold my bike in 1981, not used tubs since.
Report back, once you have ridden them.

These look great. I have been looking at the Chinese carbon stuff on ebay. May I ask how much these came to?

All in at £650. Bear in mind though that these are not Chinese crabon wheels, Gigantex are a Taiwanese manufacturer who make wheels for a lot of 'wheel manufacturers' and these wheels are superbly finished. I have looked at Chinese rims and the quality compromises were more than I was prepared to make. I am quite open-minded about Chinese frames, as you can see from the pics above.

You could get them built up to a lower budget with cheaper hubs/spokes, although you'd struggle to get below £500.

Hmm I guess you get what you pay for! I think the Chinese rims and hubs come in at around 250-350.
