i'm looking for a new winter road bike as my eldest son has pinched my old peugeot profesional 5000 which i upgraded from 7spd to 9spd

i'm currantly looking at the peugeot cr22 tiagra (i have a soft spot for peugeot i had an elan which went everwhere my mates mtb's went)
also looking at the merida ride lite 91 which i've heard nothing but praise
they're both about the same price and weight

does anyone have any experiance of these

My short answer is no, but, where I work we have had a Peugeot CR02 road bike and a Peugeot CM22 MTB in the past few months.

Neither what you're after I know, but the point I wanted to make is that I was very impressed with the build and finish of both bikes.

Thats the one i'm looking at. I spoke to a shop that deals with both makes, they said the peugeot was not very good for the money (original price) and that they prefer the merida

The merida is basicly an uprated specalized allez for a bit less money

The RRP of the Peugeot range is a bit optimistic IMO too. The CR02 road bike I linked to in post #2 has an RRP of £1600, which for a 105 equipped bike, (that isn't well established in the UK market anymore), is too high.

However, if you can get a deal on one for less money then give them a closer look.

A bit of trivia for your cycling minds - Peugeot bikes are distributed by the same company that does Bianchi in the UK, bet you'll sleep well now you know that won't you ;)
