I don't normally make a fuss about new year, it's effectively just a change of date to me. But this year, around Christmas time I decided to stop procrastinating so much and get on and do the things I want.

Boy have I been busy. I bid on a motorbike I fancied and won, so now I'm changing bikes which is something I've been putting off for about 18 months. I also ordered a skip and cleared the garden, garage and some things out of the loft. I've also started cycling to work again which I quite enjoy (providing the temperature is the right side of freezing).

Anyone else doing well with their resolutions?

I have decided that after many years of bouncing around with losing weight and putting it back on, this will be the year I do it properly. One week in and I have lost 5lb, many manymany more to go. On the back of this, when I complete the Ride the Night in May, I am going to try a ride with the Fridays, I will need to get my average up though as at the moment I will not keep up. I shall reassess how I am doing in June.

You won't hold anyone up on a FNRttC, the pace is conversational and people will always wait for you.

I don't make resolutions as such, but I do generally aim to be healthier and a better version of me (if such a thing exists ;) )
So, I've just demolished a pie and packet of xl cheese crisps and I'm working through a huge slice of mars bar cake , despite the fact it's not as good as I'd hoped.
I can try again next month, right?!

You have set your sights high and if you have a little stumble now and again you can try as many times as you like to do better. Just bear in mind, if you get to be the best you can be and the healthiest you can be you won't have anything let to strive for. My advice would be, eat the cake and keep your aims for the future firmly intact.

300km a week through London on a road bike.
I am packing in alcohol during the week. Well, Mon to Thurs. And I am going to make a real effort to lose a kilo or two. Then I am going to try to get a six pack just to see if its possible at my age.

Let me guess; you're under 18 but then if they do let you buy a six-pack, that will ruin your plan to pack in alcohol, won't it?
