I expect most have you have been to New York and other parts of America at some point as I have, it's incredible place but also quite odd!

I'll try and put up some observations for your entertainment pleasure over the next few days.

Do you know one can buy pots 300 of ibuprofen! Last time I bought them in the UK they would not let me have more than two packets of 18! 300 pills for $10!

Last night in an " irish" pub/restaurant I over heard

Customer " what's the soup of the day?"

Waiter "minestrone"

Customer "ooh lovley, good old Irish soup"

I love New York, esp Manhattan, and I'd have its babies if that were possible. Love it love it love it, but haven't been since yr 2000.

Went for the first time 3 years ago and loved it. I'm not a city person but what a place. You want it, you got it, 24/7.

At one point, in July in 97 degree F heat, had my 3 y/o dughter on my shoulders walking through Central Park, both of us singing Jingle Bells. It just felt right.

Crazy place.

Fair point, not the price so much but the amount you can buy! You can't buy that many in one shop in the uk as far as I know.

It's 8am just had breakfast in a small corner cafe, The Morning Star, on the corner w57th and 9th avenue. A HUGE plate of pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, and unlimited coffee. Luvverly. You get a lot of food on your plate wether you want it or not!

The shops are not allowed to sell you more than a couple of packets, regardless of how many you want or how well stocked they are. Nothing of course to stop you going to different shops to buy more if you want. My point was that here I could by as many as I wanted, unchecked.

Back in the day they the Morning Star did a fantastic bagel and lox takeaway with huge bucket sized cups of coffee. (My hotel was on W57th and 7th, walked there every morning for a week)

But will they serve you lentils cooked in the fat of merguez sausages and washed down with (if I understood correctly) distilled bonfire smoke (I may not have been paying full attention at that point)?
