But will they serve you lentils cooked in the fat of merguez sausages and washed down with (if I understood correctly) distilled bonfire smoke (I may not have been paying full attention at that point)?

There is no reason at all why you should be paying attention to me, I never pay any attention to what you write.
What's addled is the gun culture in the USA.

So, educate me. Any state. How easy?
Not that easy. Usually a three day wait (sometimes longer) criminal record check, fingerprints, permit. If you are planning to carry it around, in other words, concealed - either in your car or on your person - that requires another license. Some states require training as well for a permit to conceal. The fact that you have a license to conceal also appears on your driver's license so when a cop pulls you over he can see straight away that you might have a piece in your car on your person.

Most crims save themselves all the bother and just steal their weapons or buy them on the black market

Don't remind me. When my shoulder was bad, I'd have to go to one pharmacy to get one set of pain killers, then another to get some other ones - wasn't taking them at the same time like.

Only Irish type bar I've been to in the States was the one in Down Town Disney. Parts of it had actually been shipped over from Ireland ! The food was of a good Irish style. Even had Irish dancing !
Never seen any food dancing, let alone Irish dancing. Was it anything out of Riverdance by any chance?

Why would any one want to go to New York, it's the last place on earth i would want to go to.^_^

It's an extraordinary place, for all the wrong reasons and all the good reasons, I love it and hate it, I want to live here and I can't wait to leave! Until you've been here, you have no idea what it is like.

I'm struggling to meet an American! Thus far I have met a a bloke from Holland, two Swedes, an Australian journalist, two geordies, an Essex geezer and gal, and loads of eastern Asians, and Mexicans.

Get down to the Lower East Side, Alphabet City... you will find plenty.. and it's always party time down there.

I love it, my brother in law and his family live there. I am a country girl at home but just love the buz of NYC. I've been loads of times and would go every year if I could afford it. Favs:-
morning breakfas was in the Galaxy 46 & 9.
Parlour bar - laughs
TGI burgers, Sabaro - pizza,
Saphoria - make up, Macy's for bags and shoes
The smell of giant pretzels and roast nuts on street corners.
Starbucks coffee and sit in Central Park people watching

OH has taken his :bicycle: over and completed the 5 bourgh bike tour, I think I might do it sometime.

My understanding was that you were talking about a handgun in the state of New York. A deer rifle...well, let's just say that whatever state you are in, if you are walking around the city streets with a rifle at high port intent on mischief your criminal career is likely to be a short one. People notice stuff like that.

I'm shocked, and not a little depressed that you as a senior CCer would feel the need seek the views of professionals in the field in order to confirm the accuracy of information provided by your fellow CCers.
