It always stikes me as strange that (self-promoted) world-leading sporting nations like New Zealand, the USA, Australia and the UK have such a 'sit on my arse' selfish motoring public....

A woman on there said something like, "I'm going somewhere in a hurry, get out of my way"

I hope she was on the way to cure cancer............More than likely going shopping...........

If it's what I'm thinking of, I think she was herself a cyclist speaking of the attitude she perceived in some motorists.

I personally didn't think much of the program. I found it very superficial. The 'vigilantly' did himself no favours imho, unable to give a decent answer to a fairly predictable question. Maybe the problem is so bad in NZ that any first step in countering a pro-car attitude has to be a careful one.

I gave lots of decent answers, they just didn't air any of them :-(

She was a cyclist telling of motorists attitudes. The presenter told me they couldn't find anyone with an anti cycling attitude that wanted to stand up and speak their mind. The first place they should have gone was a Police Station, those places are full of people that hate cyclists!

Calling cyclists 'vigilantes' is one thing I really hate. They clearly do not know the meaning of it.

I was quite happy that TVL when questioned about the confrontations said that it is long overdue. I agree with this but think that it shouldnt be up to the cyclists to educate motorists.
I am learning to drive at the moment and as a cyclist and being instructed by a cyclist, I am always looking in my blind spots and mirrors for cyclists.

One thing that I have noticed on YT too is the sheer amount of close passes that Mr Litigant uploads. And just the ignorance that motorists have towards cyclists there. I thought it was bad in the UK but attitudes are at another level in NZ.

Ah, the victim of editing eh? Shame, as it perhaps distorted your position. You sadly came across as not being able to answer a question directly. Have you been dismissed as a 'whinging pom' yet? ;)

(I grew up in NZ btw. I used to get all manner of sh*t because of my accent, even at the age of 5!)

Very frustrating to see everything a said about the Police (and more) totally missing. Always get the whinging pom quote, so much easier to dismiss me with that than answer questions about why no one gives a #uck

The interesting bit for me was the cost saving of 20:1 in building cycle ways.

Yes, I raised an eyebrow at that I have to admit. I suspect there was perhaps a significant 'health cost' being factored in. Whilst it is undoubtedly there, it's going to be an estimate to suit an agenda. Again, it was probably outside the remit of a 15 minute program to break that figure down.

Did well there mate.

I don't like the vigilante tag and I've had a damn good kicking this week by the dregs. I have my Droid moments, and feel like a prat afterwards but I don't go out looking for trouble. We all just want to get somewhere safely and a few of us want to share the crap we put up with.
Thanks. I really wish they'd used some of my comments about the Police, and got a cop to try to defend the way they treat cyclists.

Them cyclists going up that hill is shocking. Very very poor positioning.
Thats something I agree with. Why was the guy cyclist saying that they were all riding in a tiny bit of tarmac between the line and the verge. They sounded like the were encouraging overtakes and not taking a dominant position (with there being a few of them it would have been easy to do this). Still doesnt condone what the lorry driver did.
Even after he knocked down the woman, he was apparently arguing that she pulled out infront of him. He was trying to argue his point even with a seriously injured person infront of him who he has just hit.
Sometimes things are beyond belief.
