I have finally the money to buy myself a new road bike on which I will do most of my riding (outdoors in the summer and on the turbo in the winter).
My old bike is an entry-level gravel bike; it's good but nothing spectacular. I'm never going to sell it...call it sentimental value
so I thought I would use it as my guinea pig to learn more about fixing/building bikes. I've always been interested in understanding how things work.
I started watching the parktool youtube videos about bottom brackets yesterday, learned about all the different types. And here's my question: my bike comes with a cartridge bb (FSA cartridge 68x110.5mm bottom bracket according to the website specs); will I have to stick with this type of bb forever? When I remove it, can I replace it ONLY with one of the same type? Does it depend on the cup (if there are/aren't threads in it)?
Any advice and link to online resources about the subject will be greatly appreciated
