Hi all,
I've been lurking here for a while, found this cool chat while trying to find out what commuters cyclists do in icy conditions in my neck of the woods. Got my answer ^_^ any many more besides!
I'm a fairly recent commuter by bike, only about 8 km/5 miles each way, from the Glasgow Rutherglen area to the Secc. I only started cycling to work last October, already have had a few adventures  and loads of misshaps. Still terrified of most cycling related things - like brake failure down a gentle slope, front wheel detaching itself after hitting a pothole, bike frame suddently collapsing on itself, and so on  I am nevertheless looking forward to tomorrow, back on my bike after my days off!

Unless you bought your bike from a fuzzy orange-haired bloke with very big feet round the back of a circus tent I think youll be fine:biggrin:
