Hi there everybody. I`ve been lurking around here for a few months and enjoying all the knowledge and points of view expressed.
While on a sneaky coffee break today i spotted a map of europe on the cafe wall. I wandered over and spontaneously drew a line from Geneva down to the med following the coast to southern Spain.
I`ve spent the last couple of hours looking into this..easy jet edinburgh to geneva and easy jet alicante to Edinburgh with bike.
I would like any advice, tips on a route. travelling next march over 3 weeks.
Thanks T.

Sounds great!

Navigation should be easy. Go down the Rhone valley: Annecy which is fab, Grenoble, Valance, Montelimar, Avignon, Arles, then turn right and along the coast.

For the rest what info do you need, bike choice, kit, camping or hostels. Ask away there is lots of good advice from real experienced tourers (so not me then:blush:)

Big, what is the problem with Montpellier, seemed nice enough when I was there but that was 20 years ago!

I can give specific advice on Orange to Barcelona....
Montpelier is a town with a lot of problems, both from local poverty colliding with students, and also with a LOT of roadworks where trams have been put in. The tracks can be a bugger. I still like it....but you don't need to go into it. Take the back road from Palavas, round Maguelone and take the footbridge over the Rhone Sete canal.
