Hi Guys/Girls,

I haven't been on a bike years and with summer closing in on us i have decided i wanna get back on two wheels and gain a bit of fitness. I'm looking at going out for a ride after work for a few miles each night and seeing how it progresses so i don't wanna spend too much. It would mostly be on roads but i don't fancy a road bike at the minute!

I have got a budget of around £250-£300 if any of you could point me in the right direction that would be great!

Thanks in advance.

From what I hear a Carrera Subway should fit the bill, just watch out for build quality, I am sure others will chip in.

+1 on the Subway. A good, well made hybrid style bike.

As Nigel says, just watch out for the assembly. Halfords mechanics range from excellent to barely sentient...... and unfortunately the majority tend to be at the monkey end of the spectrum.

Go on, tilt your head!
Take a look on eBay and the like, save your money by going second hand for now....then maybe upgrade when you know you want to keep it up.

I got my brother an older Carrera Subway for £45 not too long ago, he loves it and it does everything asked of it.

I picked up a mid 80's Raleigh steel road bike for £45 a couple of months back, I put new tyres and tubes on and its good to go for not a lot of money. Recently I've been choosing it over my £2k carbon road bike for quick local rides...love it!
