Would that be the same gentleman that was in charge at Leeds when they went down?
Bit of a coincidence that.

And I thought the Tigers were everyones 2nd favorite team this season, at least for the first few months of the season. I am now completely disillusioned ;)

Hull were a Breath of fresh air at the start of the season. Fearless attacking football. I don't think Newcastle has been many people's 2nd favourite team since the year we nearly won the premiership with Sir Les, Ginola and Tino et al. The 'entertainers'

I actually meant Ashley but the whole Cocknee mafia will be held to account come judgment day!

Quite, most things I have read on fans forums have not painted Newcastle United as anything like anyones 3rd favourite team even. It has caused a fair bit of hilarity.

Cheer up, at least you get to go to Deepdale ;)

Further to that, the reason often given for enjoying the fall of NU dates from when Bobby Robson was relieved of his duties/sacked. I don't know the details of that incident but it's often quoted.

Fat Freddy Shepherd the then chairman announced that Sir Bobby would only be given one more year of his rolling contract thereby completely undermining his authority. This is the same FFS who was caught by the News of The World in a Marbella brothel laughing at us mugs who buy replica shirts for £40 that cost pence to make. He also described Geordie women as 'dogs'.
This is the same Fat Freddy Shepherd who is now trying to engineer a return to the club.
Laughing stock? No doubt I just can't seem to laugh about it.

Bobby Robson was your best since Keegan (1st time), though he built the team around Shearer. I've a lot of respect for Robson, probably the best English manager of his generation.

Disagree with that on all counts. Been to see the toon play on many occasions and their fans are probably the most vocal, good-natured and well-supported I have seen.

+1 Dated a Geordie for a while and used to go to games with her old man and found the fans to be great fun and very well spirited even if they did loose to Liverpool (95/96 season think it was).

Surely all other fans are self-gratification artists if your wearing claret and blue Tynan? ;)

In the 70's I used to go to the Ipswich home games when Bobby Robson was in charge. One of the best matches I remember watching was against Newcastle when we won 5-4. Can't remember what went wrong, but for some reason I got in with a bunch of geordies. They soon found out I was the 'enemy' but that didn't spoil it as they were a great company from start to finish.
