Hi All,

Hope you can help. Heading down to Cornwall, Newquay for a couple of weeks and hoping to get back on the bike (after collarbone fracture). I have visited the area before and did some riding but found 'GPS my Ride' very variable in terms of the roads it took me on. There seemed to be two types, rough country tracks and busy A roads...

Basically I'm looking for 20m to 50m circulars to break me back in gently, any suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Vince

Camel Trail to Padstow is worth looking at and if you start from the furthest point I think it is about 18 miles each way. Be warned, it can get extremely busy from Wadebridge to Padstow (I have witnessed this 1st hand) and the bike parking area just outside Padstow is quite a shock. Don't try and take your bike in to Padstow, there isn't room.

I can also recommend Chip Ahoy for fish & chips, which is the only real reason for going to Padstow...….

It's hilly !!!. When I've got time I will post you some Strava links of rides I did last year from Holywell bay just south of Newquay . The camal trail is not ideal for a road bike

Except for the A30 bit, I've ridden bits, none of them good
The couple of miles this one route goes on is single carriageway which is the best you'll get (apart from avoiding completely)

Thanks all! I'll digest.

I discovered it was hilly last year which wouldn't normally bother me but with the collarbone I might not quite have the strength to pull up on the bars when out of the saddle. So I'd rather avoid 10%+ inclines if possible.

Thanks again, great replies.

Most of these roads are not too bad .I adopt a policy on single lane roads of pulling over when I hear a car I'm in no rush and just find it saves any hassle . Descend with caution most downhills are unsighted and you never know what's round the corner

@13 rider Thanks, just did a wee loop based on one of your rides. Very enjoyable. You don't hang about do you :-)

Quite right about those downhills, v scary, don't want to break the other side!
