This thread has amazing timing. I went to visit an old neighbour of mine a couple of days ago. When I saw him, I thought he looked much older than I expected him to, having seen him six months ago. He then told me he had been suffering from cancer. Perhaps I looked more shocked than I tried to appear because he immediately said that he was now clear, and that the type of cancer he had, although extremely rare, was also relatively easy to treat. Well, easy for the doctors. His description of his treatment was anything but easy, even to listen to, but he insisted he is now well on the mend.
I was impressed by how upbeat he was considering his ordeal. There is a silver lining sometimes.
