I said it was a provocation, not that I was provoked. But if you really can't see that it was trolling by the OP, then I can only assume you are applying the Year Zero rule as theclaud suggests.
Shaun has asked us all to judge by the post, not the poster, has he not?

"Linford" or "theclaud" are not people - they are signifiers attached to a post. They confer particular meanings. You can pretend that this isn't the case, but that is just to ignore particular meanings that are perfectly apparent to others, as in this case. If you want to wish it away, you'll need to institute a system of undifferentiated postings, where there are no usernames or avatars. Sounds fun.

So we're to set aside what someone might mean by a particular sentence, even if they've made it perfectly clear what they think about a that topic many times previously? If you truly think that's what we should do, I can only suggest you implement theclaud's suggestion and anonymise all posts.

Why bother even looking at a thread that Linf has started if that's what you think? Just walk away...

The pile of Guardians is as high as me on Saturday in my local newsagent.
That's about 4' 11" for those who haven't met me.
The Daily Mail is rubbish for lighting fires. Although it's very good for crosses, or so I'm told.
To be fair, Mort, the Guardian isn't very good for fire lighting ever since it went Berliner. The free ad rag is the best.

I referenced my father and the shop keeper in post 10 ... If you had bothered to read the thread from the beginning to understand what was being said instead of just jumping in half way though ...
My post quoted post 1. I think that counts as "the beginning". There is no mention of your dad by yourself, or anyone else, at that point.

My post turns up as post 24, but that is because other posts were made while I was composing it. That is how forum software works. You seem to be proving my assertion that DM readers really are too thick to use a computer.

...my father and the shop keeper in post 10 both are immigrants both are very patriotic to this country, both serve or have served the people for decades as public servants, and have added value with their presence.... jumping in...with a broad spectrum anti DM reader rant, you would perhaps have not written this.
I made a cheap shot at the DM readership in general, you made it personal to yourself, by yourself.

Also, I don't see how 2 readers being immigrants and patriotic magically assures the integrity of the DM. Recall that they published a story smearing Ralph Milliband, who was himself an immigrant and a patriot, having served in the Royal Navy during WW2. I see a contradiction here, don't you?
