Had a play with lights today
The bike I acquired last week had a complete and ratty looking set so that was this afternoons project
I had a set of torches that were a secret Santa present a few years back so they were the basis for my conversion
First job was seeing what we had to play with
Was a perfect fit for the front so I hot glued it into place
I believe there's a web page or YouTube vid that is using the same lamps, purely coincidental I might add
Had a mock up with the wiring and discovered the switch was not making a circuit so a quick clean of the terminals saw to that
On to the rear light
Was a bit concerned about damaging the rear lense when I realised its a one piece unit but happily the lense is made of plastic and was still flexible
Another torch was sacrificed and offering it up began
There is quite a void in the lamp so I glued in a bit of rubber tube to make everything nice and snug
Wire in
Soldered sealed and all fitted
The battery pack was from one of the torches, so it's not going to last that long, I'm guessing 4 hours max but it's my first attempt at this so onwards and upwards in that department no pics either as I forgot!!
The battery pack sits snugly in the front lamp and all the wiring connected to the switch
but no pic again!
Bench test
Fitted
Like I said, 1st attempt, only 4.5 v so won't win any awards for brightness but should make me more visible and means I can lose the modern lights!
