I bought one of these for my Kindle and as the Kindle doesn't get out and about so much it's switched to the Nexus. Does it's job ok. I may even buy another one for the Kindle.

I've got a neoprene cover for the Nexus too, just a generic 7" tablet cover from CaseLogic. It works well, nicely fitting and it seems well protected, but its quite bulky. I've also got a slip cover from Carphone Whorehouse which is much thinner and gets used when the tablet is going into another bag I just want anti-scratch protection.

ah, popped out this afternoon and just picked up the standard Nexus cover in slate grey, I like the book effect opening and it's a decent feeling cover.

I have never had any lock ups on the Nexus and have played many films on it (I don't have any experience of the Galaxy Tab)

I haven't had any problems with the Nexus so far. So much so I haven't bothered modding it. Currently watching the World Champs on Eurosport on it

Does this cover turn the Nexus on/off when it is opened/closed?

sorry Moss I have no idea, the Nexus isn't my toy, but it doesn't have any connectors in the cover. The sides have rubber bumpers in line with the side buttons and a gap to allow charging etc.

I'm not sure it's even being switched off between uses, it just goes to sleep and gets woken up by next person to pick it up. It's become like a lounge/coffee table addition so in that respect maybe a bigger tablet would have been better. If we do get a bigger one then I expect I would inherit the Nexus and then it would be used in a more mobile manner, which I think is it's strength.

It is indeed, Mac. Just out for a coffee with family, someone asked about the weather forecast (pulled up forecast and rainfall radar), then some rowing regatta (pulled up the results), then some photos (pulled up my website)... etc.

Finally, my old dear said "If that has the video for Clocks, that'll be everything!" Needless to say, that was playing on YouTube within about 10 seconds.

The iPad might have a bigger screen but it wasn't in my pocket so that made it irrelevant.

Yep my Nexus is with me virtually all the time. I think the only time it isn't is if I'm out on the bike (although it is in the saddlebag on the commute!)

Okey, dokes, thanks

The Nexus 7 has a magnetic detector in the frame of the screen; when a magnet is in close proximity it shuts off and switches on again when the magnet is removed. Find a magnet and give it a go!

It's a nice feature and I have a cheap cover from Amazon which makes use of it but it's not in itself a great cover otherwise because it's quite bulky and limits finger access to the very edges of the screen.
