This is probably the wrong place to come to but on the off chance that some one may save me a larger search later today:
I am trying to connect my Nexus 7 to a Wi-Fi network and keep getting the error message "Authentication Problem" The signal strength for the network I am trying to connect too is shown as "excellent" however they do ask for a pass word and I am not sure if they want a new password or my account password . Nexus help desk has sent an E mail that is not exactly helpful or straightforward. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
PS reason I have posted this is that I am about to go out for a ride and will be away until late afternoon.

Will it not be the password for the modem/router you are trying to connect to? Is it at home or somewhere else?

If it is an open network then you do not need a password but they tend to be the most insecure.
When I connected our Nexus 7 to our wi-fi, we had to supply a password to enable the connection.

Is the wifi network yours? If it is it's asking for the wifi security password for the router (different to the router password). If it's a public network, some require authentication through a browser after you've attached to the network (eg The Cloud)

It's the password for the WiFi router, be that
A: at home, where you should know that one (or if you didn't change it, naughty boy, it's probably on a sticker on the actual router)
or B: In a place where the person serving the coffee or stamping the books will tell you it.
The system remembers your account passwords, unless you have told it not to previously, so your apps and stuff should work normally once connected to a network.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I agree with Mo1959 and IanDuke. Its the password on your router at home. I have a samsung and had to input the password from the back of my router before I could proceed.

Like this lot said - you've put the wrong password in !!

Some open networks require you to log in via a web page - the device will connect to the network if you've saved it, but you sometimes need to start a browser for it to accept a connection. 'The Cloud' is like this as is our caravan park's WIFI !

WD, change it from the default one on the router, it's not good practise to use that one.. even change it slightly by adding a memorable date number to it or something, that way it sort of is the password if you forget it or get a new computer in the house but still a bit unique. Or change it to something like 'IBelieveICanFlyCosIThinkIamaDragonButinWalesNoOneWouldNoticeBecauseTheyAreAllDownMinesRunningMuseums123'

@Cush, go out for that ride and forget about all this until later!

Thanks for all the answers, yes I opened the box that the hub came in and there it was 4 stickers with a wireless key on them. Entered this and all is working well. Simple when you know how and that is why I like this forum, there is always someone to help you solve almost any problem. Thanks again to all the answers.

Nearly as bad as that place in Wales
Llanfair P G?
I was there not so long ago, after a ride with Plax of this parish. We went for tea and cakes, and I asked the waitress how you pronounce it.
She looked as me as if I was stupid, and said 'Mo. Rris. Sons'.
:thanks:
Thank you, I'm here all week....
