nexus automatic

just been browsing gumtree and came across this..

ive never seen nexus automatic before , anyone tried it , or know how it works, a quick google has drawn a blank, I'm not thinking of buying , just interested

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shimano_Nexus claims the Auto 3 had a dynamo-powered CPU doing the shifting, rather than the sprung weights in other automatic designs. I've never even heard of one before you posted!

There was also an Auto 4, but no 7 or 8 that I can see.
