I've been wondering this for ages, does any body know what the record highest number of yards required for a first down in the NFL is?
You know, 3rd and 84 or whatever it might be

Well the most would be 99&2/3rd yards

But googling around I found this

It was back in 2006 between the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. The Lions had several holding and false start penalties which put them in a HUGE 2nd and 65 hole.

Big google fail by me in the past, I googled 'NFL records' and could find nothing, I know where I went wrong now.

I am somehow not surprised that the Lions are the holder of this record

Worst I've seen is somewhere around 3rd&35, I think.
