I've never ridden in London before, but will soon be heading for one of my regular visits to Queens Square to see my multitude of wonderful Dr's and consultants.
Normally I take the Piccadilly line from Heathrow to Russell Square, but since I can travel for similar cost on the Heathrow Express, I was thinking of taking the Brompton and cycling from Paddington Station.
I've Google mapped the route, but to be honest I have no idea what's good or bad:scratch: I'm quite sure the A40 probably isn't good, but would appreciate any pointers. Given it's only 3 miles I'm quit happy to have a bit of a diversion if it makes it nicer. I'm happy to ride in traffic locally, but not yet tried it in town....

Out of Paddington up the ramp, straight ahead into London St, over A road (Sussex Gardens) into Sussex Place, first or second left (can't remember if the previoud is open to bikes) into Gloucester Square, straight on into Somers Crescent, left at end then right into Cambridge Square, right at end then left into Norfolk Crescent, left into Burwood Place, straight across A5 Edgware Road into Harrowby St, left at end then 2nd right into Crawford St, then signs for King's Cross should take you round the Marylebone High St one way to Weymouth St, then right at the end and left into Clipstone St and that should feed you to the left of the BT tower into the Bloomsbury cycleway. Keep following signs for King's Cross until Marchmont St (a few junctions after Tavistock Square), then turn right into that, left at the end, next right and the back of GOSH is in front of you. Turn left and follow the edge of the building until you reach your entrance.

It's simpler than that sounds. Just keep heading east, staying south of Euston Road and North of Oxford Street, following Kings Cross signs once you start seeing them.

Or for easy, scenic but indirect, keep going straight on out of Paddington until you reach Hyde Park (right turn from Sussex Place into Stanhope something helps), head for West Carriage Drive and join CS3, follow it past Parliament to Embankment, turn left up Savoy St just before Waterloo Bridge, use the pedestrian crossing to turn right onto Aldwych (edit: I do a Copenhagen aka jug handle turn), then left up Kingsway, straight on into Southampton Row and look for Cosmo Place on the right by a bar to walk through to GOSH.
