Nice to Bordeaux

One flying into Nice and one flying out from Bordeaux, giving me two weeks worth of cycling.

Any must do routes or destinations or general tips?

Mont Ventoux is directly between them, if mountains are your thing.

From what I have seen over the last few days, the roads of the coastal strip of which Nice is a part are like unfamiliar city centres at rush hour with, of course, everything happening from the unfamiliar side. I would definitely encourage you to find the safest short route, or shortest safe route, to wherever the roads are quieter. Beyond that I cannot help, because I will be hunkering down in the shade until it is time to close my eyes and be driven back to the bloody airport.

So, since writing this I have made the decision to do something I don't normally do; follow a route! Well, at least as far as Béziers. After that I'll make my way to Bordeaux. See attached that I picked up in my local bookshop.

Part of me thinks this will guide me towards some 'worth visiting' parts of the area and another part of me thinks it will make me a slave to the route rather than to go wherever I fancy.

Anyway, I guess I can play it by ear when I get there.......
