I guess it time to get the maps out again, as other peeps are now coming online with there spring and summer plans.
Will LEJOG get a bashing this year, last year it seemed to be a endless stream of peeps flogging North and south, If Peeps want something different why not look at the other diagonal Durness to Dover, slightly shorter route, some nice land rover tracks if you want to do some off tarmac routes.

And a bike bus from Inverness to Durness each day which in itself is a nice and interesting drive.

The problem with Durness to Dover is that it doesn't have the same cachet as LEJOG. D2D is more likely to be the second end to end that someone rides rather than the first.

My planning is done. I know the start and end points; Beaune and Venice. I know the start date and when i have to be back for and that's it. Jobs a good 'un

I wish I could make up my mind what I want do and when I'm going to do it. I was going to start walking the South West Coast Path at Easter but now I've regained the BCQ itch so I'm planning to scratch that instead.

Current plan is to get a train to Stafford - this can be done with a single train, and doesn't require any faffing about with reserving spaces - and then cycle west across some seriously hilly terrain to the coast, head down to New Quay (not to be confused with the Cornwall's Newquay) and then head east via some killer hills, e.g. Devil's Staircase, back to sweet home Bedfordshire.

And don't get me started on proposed Scottish venture in June. I think the only thing I've settled on is the fact that I'm going to get the sleeper train to Inverness and then cycle back home: the route changes on a daily basis! I admire Vernon's ability to settle on his start and end points this far in advance.

I have walked the whole of the SWCoast path, in sections, but one of my Fav sections is the Sandbanks ferry to Weymouth, normally do that section the week after Christmas as the range walks are open.

You should when you arrive on the Night sleeper just pop round the corner top the bus station and catch the Cycle bus to durness, some lovely wild cycling coming back down from there riding longside Loch Hope, strathmore then at Allnabad head west on the Landrover track to West merkland then follow the A838 south then pick up th Jogle route from there.. hee hee just trying to tempt you..lol

Just a word of caution, as far as I can see the bike bus timetable has not been published for 2011, I hope it will appear in due course.

Edit. thanks for that P.H., I thought I'd read it somewhere but couldn't find it.
