Spent years being called Scouse. Now back in Liverpool, a couple of lads who I've known forever still call me Tefal every now and then. Goes back to when my hair started receding just as the Tefal scientists adverts appeared. Grrr!

Sharing my name as I do with a certain woodland game bird, I had a lot of inevitable nicknames thrown my way when I was young. Timberwillie being the most inventive, but Copperknob and Lumberdick being two other common ones. Here in Germany it's not taken long for colleagues to start referring to me as Herr HolzSchwanz.

There's an old guy who lives near me at the moment who for some reason calls me Alf. Absolutely no idea why but if I pass him on the very short walk for a paper I get a "Good morning Alf. Nice day " etc

At secondary school Hedgepig ( I was scruffy and fairly round to begin with, not Hedgehog as it sounded crap apparently)
In the Army originally called Fred Scuttle ( Benny hill character)
then Harry the Bastard ( young ones character and people said it suited my character as a stroppy sod) then Harry the half a B and finally Harry the Dog ( short for the dog and bone, as I am in Telecomms, not what you may have been thinking)
