saw another this evening

a reasonable rear red with a nother white light attached to the seat post, it looked like one of those knog rubber strap on ones, it looked very poor at a distance, it really stops the brain recognising it at once as a bike, and I considered the 'look like something odd gets noticed', not for me, there's a lot to see and label in London traffic

no excuse not to have lights on a bike, if you are really that skint go to pound land they do them in there

this seems to be a recent thing

I've seen a white rear light, which was disconcerting, a blue rear light that made no sense to me and what looked like an expensive rear light that did a pattern of red and blue, again wtf is that supposed to represent

I'd really like to know the thinking of this.

Good morning

I have three Poundland rear lights mounted on a plastic box, hanging from my saddle and they are surprisingly good in giving off light. Having three gives a "wide light", which may be easier to see from a distance.

I hang the box via a pair of cable ties as I ride on poorly maintained roads and the really deep potholes used to cause the batteries to fall out!

Bye

Are they white?

Woman at work was telling me about a chap her husband works with who was knocked off his bike a few months back. Despite being told many times, the guy never bothered with lights despite commuting most mornings at 5 am. Chap had some fairly nasty injuries, and i found out today that he's been paid out £20,000.

That's f'd up when someone gets compo because of something that's their fault. And illegal...

No wonder insurance is so expensive.

When you say "A few months back", when exactly? There is after all a period from towards the end of May to mid July (depending on where in the country) when it is perfectly light at that time of the day. This would make a damages award more understandable.
I believe it was August, so at 5 AM it would be dark in this part of the country.

My feelings as well just can't see how he can get that kind of compo.

Saw a guy tonight. 4 flashing on the rear, 2 flashing on the front. Awesome I thought! Then he pulled across a busy road without indicating, narrowly escaped the irate taxi, the bus and the pedestrian walking the dog and turned right from the left hand side curb. I guess all the lights in the world won't help you if you ride like a tw#t.
