FF just 'cos you like the looks of the Juke what makes you think it will actually be any better than the 3008 once you're on the inside? A guy I worked with bought a new Quashquai and only kept that for around 6 months as he thought it was horrible to drive.

I don't think that it'll be any better than the nasty 3008 or the truly dreadful Quashquai. I just think it looks really interesting, a brave design from normally conservative industry and it's looks will spawn many imitators. French cars used to have flair and are now dull, Jap cars used to be dull and are now interesting.
The Quasquai is a real shoot-box, but they're selling like hot-cakes, the fact that there are 2 in my short street speaks volumes about their target market. The design team at Nissan must be rubbing their hands with glee.

It looks (I expect deliberately) like a piece of urban weaponry. I don't like what it says about our streets and the attitudes of the people who will want to drive it.

And that's what I find abhorrent about this type of vehicle (and generally the people who buy them). A Kalashnikov's not a very nice thing, but one can admire it's design and functionality.

Hang on Folks. You can (and many youngsters do) buy a beaten-up Citroen Saxo, put an outsize 'zorst on it and chase around town like a loon. I don't think Nissan's idea was for kids to buy this model, even if they could afford to. It seems to me that many people look too deeply into the marketing of cars. Used models will filter down to the to$$ers but that could equally be said of BMWs. Look at Subaru Imprezas..you have to drive one like a **** ALL THE TIME to justify owning one.

I find 1950s style American cars really beautiful to look at, like this Edsel:

But do you think companies just randomly throw designs out there to see what happens? Of course not.I know people like to think they are all independent, thinking people who make their own independent choices, but by the time something major is on the market, the minds of very specifically targeted groups of people will have already been subjected to a multitude of processes attempting to condition them to want one. Perhaps, looking a little more 'deeply' into this is a good start to freeing ourselves from marketing.

Absolutely agree with all of that, particularly the last bit.

It's pathetic, it's a nothing car, like a modern day Rover 25 Steetwise, it's fooling nobody and it's hugely embarrassing. Style? You are kidding, it's a large, cheap plastic frontal adornment with a bit of car attached...........

I like beautiful cars but can't afford them, I like utility cars too, that's why I have a Jeep, these pansy plastic "faux" macho rides make me laugh.
