Jumped on my road bike this morning and set out for a nice easy 11mi ride into work. It started out fairly easy but as I got closer to town, I got more and more annoyed with some idiot drivers who either swerve into you or when they are at the light, they just total block off the cycle lane and you have you just find a different way pass!

With me being so annoyed, I always end up trying to race drivers on stretches of road just to prove a point that I cyclists can move pretty fast too.

Anyway, with all this racing cars on stretches of road, I ended up cycling my fastest commute 11mi in 35min!

I find it really funny when you get some idiot driver who zooms pass you and near knocks you of you bike, then moments later you zoom back passed the same guy who's there slowing down and sitting in the traffic!

Just a little rant for the day.

Weird day today for sure in Greater Manchester - more close overtaking than I usually get, and general impatience abounding.

I caught up with Tharg in Stretford and we rode along side by side for a while, chatting (there are 2 lanes and it's not a particularly busy section). It was nice when an impatient lady beeped at us and did the usual 'point to the side of the road' motion. We both waved and shouted 'morning' to her as we overtook about 50 yards later... not sure why she wanted us to use the pavement though....

I was late into work this morning (9 ish) and the traffic from Didsbury to the University was crazy. You can tell the students are back!

I am going to have to find another route.

Parrs Wood Road...then A34 / Anson Rd .....

Last night, I passed a 2 mile traffic queue due to gas works...ho..ho... ;)

I take Parrs Wood Road then cut over onto Wilmslow Road / Oxford Road. What is the A34 like for bikes? Always looked a bit busy to me?

If it wasn't for the fact that it was such a beautiful morning for cycling, I might have got annoyed at the no.22 Lothian Bus which pulled out on me on the roundabout right outside work. Handfuls of brake and a big swerve from me were required.

Must be something in the sunny spring air.

But it was too good a ride to do anything more about it than tut. Days like today were invented for cycling.

That's unusual for a Lothian Bus. On the otherhand I had some idiot driver come up behind me on George Street a couple of weeks back when I was doing 22.7 mph (in the so called 20mph zone). He started beeping his horn, then immediately cut into the bus stop when he was only level with my rear wheel. He tried this a couple of times before he realised who he works for and waited a fraction of a second before it was clear to pull in.
I suppose a couple of bad decision from LB driver's out of 1000s isn't too bad.

It's very unusual. He had slowed down as he approached the RAB, then suddenly pulled out. Maybe he just misjudged my speed.

I actually love commuting in London. It really keeps you on your toes and gets you good and geed up for work. My route is not for the faint-hearted it must be said (like most other London commuters I suppose).
