Good pictures, Martin.

Nice to see that you are not one for this travelling light business!

Did you weigh your luggage? When I did it I took a tent and sleeping bag I'd had when I was at school, which were ok but not modern lightweight kit, and 5 books (of which I read half of one). When I checked in at Montpellier airport to come home, my total gear weight was 20kg. In one small town a local remarked 'Vous etes bien chargé, monsieur!'

From your pics, you seem to have travelled a high proportion of the journey off-road. Steep steps, rutted tow-paths and even railways... Shame, really, as the roads in France are so pleasantly smooth and free of traffic. I do worry that you might be making things unnecessarily hard for yourself, starting the day on an empty stomach too!

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Ooh. Is the Rochefort transporter bridge open again? We had to miss it out last year, and found a suspension bridge with untreated chipboard as the flooring a mile or two upstream instead. A fully laden tandem on untreated chipboard makes a bit of a mess. There's a photo somewhere in the link below.
