The guardsounds like a bit of a jobsworth. At least it won't happen to me; I'd feel too silly walking rounda supermarket with a cycling helmet on.

I wonder what the guard would have done if you had entered the shop at the exact same time as a Muslim woman wearing one of those full face Burka thingabebobs; would've been interesting to see if he'd asked her to uncover her face. When I see Muslim women out and about I do sometimes wonder if it is actually a woman under the clothes or a manin disguise.

I get this all the time in the motorbike. I have pointed out that if I were looking to hold the place up, would I be so stupid to remove the lid on request first....they then trot out the more than my job is worth.

My local petrol station was held up about 18 months ago, and then put screens up for the cashiers, and a big sign demanding motorcyclists to remove their lids. Knowing they had a robbery, I asked them what the thief was riding and wearing, and they said a hoodie on a mountain bike....like he needs to have that over his head to legally ride one as motorcyclists do

I'd be none to happy. To ask me as a Jewish male to remove my wooly hat, but to not ask a Sikh to remove their turban is discriminatory.

In any case, its a joke, a pointless exercise. It's about as effective as a sign reading "Armed robbers - please leave shotguns outside". The only people likely to comply are those who are likely to behave themsrlves anyway.

In any case, id not remove it in the basis there's not a lot they can do. He ain't gonna pick me up and carry me out, he can call the police but they've got no routine powers to eject people from private property. I'd just select my goods, pay at the self service till, and be on my way and there's not much can be done to alter that course of events.
