I was listening to a science program on the radio yesterday and I must say it got me thinking about the human race
Apparently, continents are still drifting apart and America is moving just one 1 inch away from us every year so that in 250million years all continents will be together again and then start drifting apart again for another 250million years to form new continents, probably totally different from now.
So what about the human race? Well I stopped worrying about pollution and co2 a long time ago as I believe it makes no difference at all. The earth will survive anything we humans do and just carry on until the sun explodes.
The bottom line is that we are only passing through and going through a new beginning every so many million years so who's to say there wasn't another civilisition of us half a million years ago?
That's deep thinking isn't it?
I know all the brains and scientist amongst you will probably think my theory is "simple" and tear me apart but sometimes, simple things just work!

My thoughts exactly:thumbsup:

So the Americans are getting an inch further away every year? Great news!

If you mean another civilisation on Earth as (or more) technologically advanced as us, then I think we would have found some evidence of that. 500,000 years ago was roughly when Homo neanderthalensis was around - and they certainly weren't very advanced, technologically.

Worrying about it is like pis*ing into the wind, I know, but at the same time, we are foisting something unwanted on the planet and the animals....

so who's to say there wasn't another civilisition of us half a million years ago?

As Benb says, surely we'd have found evidence though?

That's true. Did any of you ever see Louis Theroux's programme called The Most Hated Family In America?
Seriously, the only reason the nut jobs hadn't been locked up years ago was because their reason was religion, and that was alright then.

As far as the Earth is concerned, we are not even a relevance. We are barely a blip in terms of life on Earth.

We don't really matter at all in the grand scheme of things.

But currently, we are. It is all too easy to think that we are having no impact on the planet. Unfortunately, just look around at the growing evidence to the contrary.

I didn't say we have no impact, we have a huge impact on 'our world', just that 'our world' is so small in the grand scheme of things. It could be the undoing of humankind but we are still just a blip.

The Environmentalist Mike Thompson once said, during a lecture, that 'We are not trying to save the planet, we are just trying to save our lifestyles. The planet will do what it needs to do with or without us.'.

what growing evidence? Climate warming? F**ck all to do with us but all to do with the earth going through a new cycle, that's all. There is nothing we can do about it..
