At a guess they have less to lose when we sue for unfair dismissal than if someone on massive wages sues.

The suggestion is that he didn't actually do anything illegal or against his job description so couldn't be sacked. He would have claimed unfair dismissal.

Remember he just said he would do things he didn't actually do it.

So they had to agree a severance package. The one million was seen as a cost worth paying by the FA as a legal dispute would have been worse
