There's a fascinating shop near Hebden Bridge where they sell all kinds of old clothes, cleaned up and repaired. They supply to film sets and the like. The remarkable thing when you handle those fustian coats and wool jackets is how damned heavy clothes used to be; they must have been heavier (and stank) after rain. We are spoiled by our lightweight easy-care garments.
