Is anyone else suffering this auditory scourge?

Ours seem to have gotten worse following the summer heatwave and they are driving me crazy.

Some I can deal with but others are inaccessible eg the lounge which is around 500 sq.ft would be a huge problem to empty, lift the carpet/underlay and screw the boards back down, etc.

Anyone else notice this problem since the summer?

Yep, sadly it happens. We did a loft conversion using chipboard flooring and thats even worse. According to young oxo you should glue it down to the joists as you nail it down, although he recommends screws instead. He also suggests that screwing down standard floor boards is better than nailing it. Perhaps you should consider getting a new carpet and doing it then.
