So what do you need from Google you can't get from Windows Phone? I get my Gmail account just fine on my 1020, and I've set the default search engine in the browser to Google.
Multiple calendars, and one or two apps that I rely on that don't have WP ports, or as good equivalents. I also like removable storage, which the high end WP devices don't have (yet).

That's a good point. I hadn't thought about apps. I could do RSS with Nextgen Reader if I switch back to Feedly from FeedBin but there's no Pocket app as far as I know.

The 1520 has an SD card slot, but none of the other high-end have. I've found though that the bundled MixRadio app is really quite good, and has largely negated the need to fill my phone with music. Cortana works quite well, too.

Yes - we've had fun getting Cortana to tell us jokes from my son's 'phone

If your old SIM card was not compatible size wise you can get it "clipped" to the smaller micro by your network provider.
How do you like the phone? I'd be interested to know.

When son went from PAYG to a contract with the phone the network gave him a new SIM and temporary number till it was swapped over.
Had a similar problem when I bought a Moto G. A small local outfit cut it for free for me using something like a hole punch.
Also got a Moto E for my wife - her SIM just had sort of a serrated press-out centre to reduce it to the smaller SIM size.
So few ways of doing it, last one was definitely the simplest and quickest.
