I hate those skip lorries
I have to cycle past a dumping place on the way to work and they fly past me within a couple of feet.
Plus they hardly ever cover the contents of the skip so there's dust and debris flying all over the place which then gets pushed into the "cycle lane".

Duly corrected.;)

School run drivers are easily the worst, but I have to say I've seen a few Police cars being driven in a manner which suggests they are trying to map read, talk on a phone, smoke a cigarette and also change their outfit at the same time whilst driving.

Just shows your real character:laugh::biggrin:

I reckon Volvo drivers have changed for the better over the years, possibly as a result of the widely held opinion (not just amongst cyclists) that their driving was a disgrace.
.. or did the worse ones decide that a different make of car was more in keeping with their "aspirational lifestyle"; one with better marketing along the lines of "buy one of these and everyone will think you're really rich and cool". Maybe.

Anyone else notice that HGVs without their trailers suddenly become boy racers.

That's because driving a tractor unit is like driving a huge sports car. Great fun.

I had a right cerfuffle with one on the M25 yesterday, wouldn't let me change lanes into a perfectly safe space by accelarating right on to the bumper of the little old lady in front of him, so pulled in behind him, then as I went to overtake he straddled both lanes to prevent me from doing so. Ok. Tum te tum. Waited for him to chill the fcuk out then matched his speed as I pulled along side him and sat there until he came up behind a slow moving vehicle and he had no-where to go! For five miles! He kept veering over to try and intimidate me but at no point did it cross his mind to indicate. Sun roof back two finger salute and away I went. Think they own the fecking roads some of them. Tosser.

I hate to say it, but you don't come out of that particular unedifying episode looking at all clever. Granted, it sounds like the driver was being a bit of a tool, but the gap can't have been that big if he was able to close it at an instant's notice (limited to 56mph, remember), and besides, I hate people who cut into my braking distance. But even assuming that he was being a tosser, to sit alongside him for five miles trapping him behind something slower is not the mark of a good driver. Just let it go.

And Beemers, many 4x4s. And the moron in the white builder's van towing a wobbly generator trailer at 85mph in the fast lane whilst on the mobile phone yesterday. Idiot.

... and, we're back in agreement again.

You're absolutely right I did subsequently behave like an arse but the gap was plenty big enough before he decided to close it and I don't respond well to 'might is right' bully tactics.

Flat beds everytime. Bloody awful.
Skips.
Tossers (usually in 4x4's/ large vehicles) with trailers.
Pretty much any male in a suit in his forties in a traffic jam. 'Yes you have a car, yes it goes faster than my bike but what's the point of squeezing me out of primary when I'm only going to overtake you and the rest of the mile long tailback anyway?'
Had a couple of Beemer incidents recently but they were moer irritating than dangerous.
I've actually found WVM quite considerate recently (cue spate of WVM incidents coming monnet's way)

I drive a small van as part of my job. Its liveried so even if I wanted to drive badly I couldn't. Things that irritate. The driver that sits in the outside lane of the motorway about level with my rear wheel and if i want to change lanes wont let me. Tourists on single lane roads, The day is beautiful driving conditions are perfect the limit is 60 and they are traveling at 40 with a mile of traffic behind them. The thing I am seeing more of these days which is both dangerous and irritating is artics on the motorways which change lanes without checking the lanes empty first, seen a lot of that this sumer. On the cycling side its pretty much the things that have been posted so far. One thing I am seeing more of is the driver who is traveling close to the car in front and isn't going to change course for any reason. several times I have had to slow and wait for traffic so I can overtake parked cars, even though I started to check the traffic early to find a gap, because there is not a gap and if I do start to ease out its obvious the driver behind is not going to drive around me and I have to pull back in and slow or stop.
