Non Standard Shifting and Brake cables.

I had racer bike but had to move the handle bar up by 3 inches due to neck problems.. I have Shimano Ultegra set. Now I need to adjust brake and shifter - all four cables. The standard set available are with fixed outer length.. Any suggestion how can i buy free length, cut to size and use?

Try your LBS. They usually have cable outers on a large roll of which they cut to length.

I bought a kit off ebay, 2 meters of outer sleeve and inner cable was less than £10 for brake and gear sets iirc.

What happens when we cut outer? Do I need any sort of end sleeves to protect outer..?

You get the little end caps that go over the outer after you've cut it to length.

Good quality sharp sidecutters are a must to make a clean cut.

I'd favour a pair of bike specific cable cutters, ones where the blades overlap like scissors rather than side cutters where the blades butt together. But if those work for you, keep on going.

Always a good idea to make sure there isn't a burr on the end of the cable outer fouling the inner, a small pointy thing like a bradawl and a small fine-tooth file will be your good friend for this...
