Rode to work this morning and didn't need to use the brakes.

All five sets of lights were in my favour and I used the little upramp at the bike shed to finally stop me.

Saves a few pence on disk pads.

BTW....

I joined a gym so I could train hard in the bad weather.
I spent £300 on a bike with disks for commuting in the rain.

Where's the bloody rain???

Five sets of lights? I counted all the lights on my commute one time, it's about 100!

I would go nuts.

I have 11 miles each way with no lights! no chance of doing it without touching the brakes; the staggerd junction at the botton of a 40mph hill would be real interesting.

Before anyone suggests "heel of left shoe on rear tyre", NO.

This is an emergency measure when brakes fail. Useful to know.
Might rip the tyre to shreds, deform the rim or pull the sole off the shoe, but better than careering into a stream of traffic at the bottom of a hill.

This is an emergency measure when brakes fail.

Except it doesn't work when you have full mudguards.

I have full mud guards! On that particular hill I have an escape route planned through a 'soft' point in the left hand hedge at a point that avoids the 2' ditch that runs most of the way down the hill.

How many cups of coffee have you had today?

If the choice is breaking mudguards or breaking legs under a car, I can afford new mudguards.
