Norman Watt-Roy ill.

Chief Blockhead and proper bassman was taken ill last night whilst performing with Wilko Johnson and suffered a heart attack soon after. Fortunately there were of course first aiders on hand and they kept him going. News is in short supply, but his fan group on Facebook is reporting that he is stable in hospital.

Hope he recovers and gets back out having fun again, he will certainly have to knock a couple of his 'habits' on the head.

Update: According to his fansite, he's been talking to people by phone from the hospital. Positive news.

"Norman felt unwell last night at our Hampton Pools gig and suffered a minor heart attack - he was taken to hospital late last night. He is recovering well and will be kept in for a day or so - we'll keep you updated as we know more. Thank you for all of your messages of concern and support."

Oh no! I truly love the way that man handles that bass, it's a total pleasure to see and hear and feel!

He's on the mend.
He will be back playing with Wilko at the Albert Hall gig in September.

So happy it's not as serious as the rumours early on Sunday morning suggested. I've seen him both with the Blockheads and with Wilko and the thought of never getting the chance to see him again worried me.
Wishing him a swift recovery and a hope that the underlying problem is identified and quickly fixed.
