Having being bitten by the (cyclo camping) bug along the Loire Valley last year, I am keen to cycle and camp in France again in early April. This time I'm travelling to Dieppe but returning from Caen. Two bits of advice from those who know please;
1. Will campsites be up and running that early and, if so, as plentiful and cheap as they are in July and August?
2. Any route suggestions? (I'm thinking Dieppe to Rouen (train to Bayeux) and cycle along some of the WWII Normandy beaches I haven't done before)
As always, thanks for all the good advice.

Can't help but my son is desperate to go visit the beaches (WW2 fanatic) and we looked at staying in Bayeux...I am tempted by the idea of cycling it!!!

Most of the campsites probably won't be open by then as Easter is quite late next year. You ought to be able to find enough that are open but I'd advise a bit of pre planning.

I would be surprised if you find any sites open. Certainly the cheap and handy municipal ones will be shut, i suggest you look at youth hostels and Formule 1 hotels (which cost about the same as a hostel). Wild campimg is difficult, uncomfortable and cold, so a lot of research would be a good idea. This time of year is out of the tourist season and you might even find restaurants have limited opening hours

I would suggest that there will be a significant number of campsites open on April 1st with more opening as april progresses to the beginning of May - not enough that you can risk it for a biscuit and just turn up but more than enough that with 30mins on google maps that you can work something out

Edit - It took me less than 5mins to find enough
