North Cape crank bearing sizes

Got a Raleigh North Cape crank bearings are sounding rough getting crank puller just wondered what type of bearings to put in cage or loose van anyone tell me the size of cage I need and size of bearings please any help wold be appreciated

I think 1/4" are standard for "cup and cone" bottom brackets.

I prefer loose bearings rather than caged, but that is possibly just me being old and set in my ways:smile:

+1 for loose bearings, there's no cage to rust through and chew up the spindle. It's probably the cause of the roughness you can feel.
You don't have to remove the fixed cup, just stick the bearings on the spindle with grease.

If you are using loose bearings then only put 10 in at each end. There's enough room for 11 until you tighten the cup. Then they wedge themselves together into a solid ring.
