Well what a great ride.:biggrin::biggrin: Started off in Lanchester and headed out to Waskerly dropped into Stanhope through Rookhope to Allenheads, and eventually return via Blanchland, Muggleswick (great name) Back to Lanchester.
52 miles 3976ft of ascent in three and a half hours. Hard going in places but absolutely brilliant and the hardest ride on my road bike to date.

Loads of C2C'ers out, about 25 of them climbing up Crawlyside Bank. What was really nice to see was the amount of youngsters out there.

Should have mentioned the Guy on a uni-cycle climbing out of Allenheads, he was going great guns. Followed by another guy on what I could only describe as a small penny farthing, he was pushing (dont blame him)

I love it up there. Bleak and empty spaces in rolling hills and gorgeous scenery. I have to say I hated most of the official C2C apart from that section which was magnifique.

Yes I agree, my favourite part of the C2C is just after the off road climb out of Rookhope, as you make your way to Parkhead the whole panorama just opens up.

When I did the C2C in May, cloud descended at Allenheads and didn't lift until we reached the Tyne. We didn't dare go fast on any of the descent after Crawleyside because we could barely see the surface that we were riding on.
